If the vinyl siding on your home is dirty this can affect the aesthetics. There are things you can do to clean the vinyl siding, or you can hire a professional to do it for you. Keep reading for two tips to get you started.

Use A Pressure Washer

If your vinyl siding is in good condition, you can use a pressure washer to get it clean. Hire a professional pressure washing company to do this for you if you do not feel comfortable doing this on your own. They have professional pressure washers and knowledge to get the siding clean and looking new.

If you want to do this on your own it is important that you use a low setting on the pressure washer so the water does not cause damage or get behind the vinyl siding. The soap you use is also important as you do not want anything that is harsh or corrosive or you will cause damage to the siding. Plain soap and water work great to clean vinyl siding or you can purchase detergent that is made specifically for pressure washers.

Apply the detergent that you choose onto the vinyl siding with the pressure washer making sure all the siding is completely covered.  If there is a lot of dirt and debris that will not come off there are utility or rotating brushes that attach to a pressure washer wand that you can use. When you are finished let the soap sit on the vinyl siding for a few minutes and then rinse with the pressure washer using clear water.

Use a Garden Hose

If your vinyl siding is older and more fragile, use a garden hose instead. There are cleaners that you can purchase from a home improvement store that attaches to your garden hose. This makes your hose much like a pressure washer but gentler on the vinyl siding. The cleaning solution will come with directions on how to use it and attach it to the garden hose but in most cases the solution screws onto the hose.

Spray the cleaner onto the vinyl siding and let it sit for a few minutes. Use a soft-bristled brush to remove stuck-on dirt and debris. When you are finished, remove the cleaner and spray the vinyl siding with clear water. Go over it closely to make sure all dirt came off. You may have to go back over it a second time.

Clean your vinyl siding yearly to keep it clean and in good condition so it will last a long time on your home.
